Brookland Pint is a casual American restaurant and bar specializing in craft beer. I went to Brookland Pint for happy hour and dinner, but it was not my first visit. Brookland Pint offers a rustic decor with a large outdoor patio perfect for el fresco dining during the warmer months. They have an extensive variety of craft beers and wines, as well as a select list of specialty cocktails. On this visit, I ordered from the happy hour menu – meatballs and mac & cheese. They were served in a crock bowl with a little bit of cheese, tomato sauce and what seemed to be homemade Italian toast. The meatballs were very good with great texture. The sauce was thin and could have been a little more flavorful. It was good for sopping up with the bread. I have to admit that I have a very high standard for mac & cheese and have ordered it from dozens of restaurants all over DC & beyond. And to be fair, the happy hour mac & cheese was simpler than the loaded mac & cheese on the regular menu. It was creamy. I love the spiral mac and the breadcrumbs, but the cheese sauce was average. I prefer mine with a bit more depth – stronger cheese flavor. From my previous visits, my go-to menu item is their cheeseburger with a fried egg on top. It can be a bit messy, but completely worth it.
